Developing Exercise Mimetics for Diseases of Aging
Pelagos is developing a new class of therapeutics that activate the same beneficial metabolic, mitochondrial and structure-function pathways observed with aerobic exercise. We believe this new therapeutic modality will address some of society’s most costly diseases – with the ultimate goal of promoting healthspan and longevity.

Activation of Exercise-Related Genes/Pathways Is Key to Health in Aging
As observed with exercise, our small molecule modulators are being rationally designed to increase endurance, muscle function/coordination and enhance cognitive abilities.
In disease and/or aged animal models, we have performed proof-of-concept studies that demonstrate that modulating the ERR and REV-ERB receptor classes with our proprietary chemical assets restores young-healthy cellular functions via activation of youthful transcriptional programs.

Pelagos’ “exercise mimetics” activate many of the same transcriptional programs as acute aerobic exercise leading to improved cellular metabolism, mitochondrial biogenesis, increased muscle function/coordination along with exercise tolerance (endurance). As with exercise, functional benefits to the CNS, musculoskeletal, immune and cardiovascular systems have been validated with our proprietary small molecule modulators.
